The SEMPO Learning Center is a repository for articles, research white papers, case studies, tools, and other resources submitted by search marketers for search engine marketers. We are happy to review and post any submission, given that it meets the guidelines found on this page and passes the scrutiny of a SEMPO editorial reviewer. If your article or whitepaper does not pass our editorial review process, you will have an opportunity to update the document and resubmit it.

Please write well, in accordance with standard English writing guidelines, and use proper spelling and grammar. Linking back to your site within a submission is permitted if you are referencing informational resources, but please avoid filling the body of your submission with keyword-optimized links back to product/service pages on your site. Also, remember that the content is supposed to be educational, so please don’t use the body of your submission to promote your company or your product. You are, however, permitted to include a bio section at the end of your submission that describes your company and its services.

By submitting your content, you agree to have your work edited by SEMPO and published on our site. If you are submitting a previously published work from a periodical or copyrighted work, you MUST provide permission from the original publisher.

SEMPO provides this information as a service to its members, and makes no warranty of member-submitted content.

Link Requests

We do not honor requests for outbound or reciprocal links, so please don’t ask.

SEMPO is interested in articles that are topical to the SEM industry and the business behind SEM. Our main priority is to acquire articles covering industry growth, trendspotting, legal and technical issues, SEM philosophy, international SEM issues, etc… We are also looking for well-written features, how-to articles, and any other content that will help the SEMPO audience gain a better understanding of search. If you have a really great white paper and want to share it with our members, we will happily consider it for our members-only resources.

SEMPO evaluates archived articles on a regular basis to ensure that only the freshest and most relevant material is presented. Based solely on the discretion of a SEMPO editorial reviewer, we reserve the right to remove content deemed to be outdated or inaccurate.

Case Studies

If you have a great case study, we want you to share it! You must have permission to print the names of all companies referenced in your case study. We prefer Case Studies to have the following structure:

  1. Background/Marketing Goals
  2. Implementation Specifics
  3. Obstacles/Challenges
  4. Measured Outcome

White Papers

We need white papers! What's a white paper? Well, it isn't a big sales pitch for your company. It isn't an empty fluff piece. It is a well-researched, meaningful document that is truly newsworthy.

Official definition: A white paper is an article that states an organization's position or philosophy about a social, political, or other subject, or a not-too-detailed technical explanation of an architecture, framework, or product technology. Typically, a white paper explains the results, conclusions, or construction resulting from some organized committee or research collaboration or design and development effort.

We will reserve some White Papers just for our membership, and share the others with public and press. SEMPO members will also be asked to participate in industry research from time to time, and we'll publish our findings here.

Search engine marketers use many different tools on a day-to-day basis. SEMPO wants to know what free and paid tools you’ve found to be most useful. And if you’ve built a tool, we’d love to test it out. As with articles, tool submissions are reviewed by a SEMPO committee member and are approved based on their merits.
