Social media marketing is one of the more preferred advertising trends for a huge chunk of companies these days. It is fast, effective and reaches out to a larger section of people than other advertising methods. If you are planning to invest in social media marketing, or already have, it is important to look out for some of the raging trends in the industry as well as for predictions on what its future will look like.

Here are the experts’ predictions for the future of social media marketing.

Paid Visibility

It is estimated that in the next few years, there will be a much larger number of paid marketing campaigns. Companies have already experienced the potential of paid marketing and many are jumping on the bandwagon. It is assumed that social media will reduce the organic visibility of advertisements, making visibility an exclusively paid right.

Social media already collects customers’ information from their social media profiles to tailor ads to people’s interests. But in a few years, there will be smarter algorithms developed which will specifically crawl on and collect information to ensure that people receive the best level of personalized ads. Companies are also expected to create more inclusive and diverse ads to cater to a larger audience.

Niche Market

As tons of people are flocking to social media every day and more users are looking to social media for their shopping needs, there is a booming market building up for niche products and services. Unlike a couple of years back when there was barely a visible niche market, it is now on a steady rise and soon people will be using social media as their primary marketplace.

Video Advertisement

With better internet quality, it can be safely assumed that GIFs and videos will gain rapid popularity in social media marketing too. People are more excited by a visual representation of the product or service they are considering and hence, videos are going to rule the market. It is also estimated that live action videos will soon be incorporated into marketing. Companies are also toying with the ideas of virtual reality and augmented reality to give their potential clients a better feel of what is in store for them.

Dominance of Online Marketing

It is a no brainer that online marketing is going to dominate the world of advertisements, leading to many new channels being developed solely for marketing. Good old Google AdWords is not going away any time soon and if anything, there is going to be better and more sophisticated service than ever before. Did you know there are more than a million Google AdWord advertisers? The platform has helped many brands make an impact on their target markets.

Influencer Marketing

Influencer marketing is a hugely successful and hence incredibly popular trend. If anything, influencers are going to be bigger than celebrities when it comes to social media marketing. They are already contributing to a large amount of clientele for different brands, and it is going to become a bigger market with more visibility and higher stakes involved. This will give rise to a culture of   social media celebrities, changing the advertising monopoly.

Improved Content

Clichéd as it might sound, content has always and still is going to rule the market, even years from now. Why? Simply because there is nothing which can replace good content. It is estimated that there will be a high demand for quality content writers, who will be paid equally well, if not more, than the advertising cell of a brand.

Social media marketing is an ever evolving and pulsating field which has been a game changer in the advertising field in the recent past and will continue to be in the future.
