In support of SEMPO’s mission, we have completed the Annual State of Search Survey for 2007. This survey is SEMPO’s fourth major research project and is part of an ongoing commitment to conducting and providing comprehensive insights into the search marketing industry. This survey will help re-establish important benchmark information about the SEM industry, including:

  • Changes in spending, opinions, attitudes and behaviors from year-to-year
  • Clarity on metrics and objectives for search campaigns
  • The size and rate of growth of the industry
  • A breakdown of spending between pay per click (PPC), search engine optimization (SEO), and paid inclusion (PI)
  • A breakdown of in-house vs. outsourced SEM
  • Attitudes and concerns about industry issues including PPC bid inflation, click fraud, and ethical standards
