Annual State of Search Survey 2005

In support of SEMPO’s mission, we have completed the State of Search Engine Marketing survey for 2005. This survey is SEMPO’s second major research project and is part of an ongoing commitment to conducting and providing comprehensive insights into the search engine marketing industry. This survey will help re-establish important benchmark information about the SEM industry, including:

  • Changes in spending, opinions, attitudes and behaviors from year to year
  • Clarity on metrics and objectives for search campaigns
  • The size and rate of grow of the industry
  • A breakdown of spending between pay per click (PPC), search engine optimization (SEO) and paid inclusion (PI)
  • A breakdown of in-house vs. outsourced SEM
  • Attitudes and concerns about industry issues including PPC bid inflation, click fraud, and ethical standards
