Job Description

The Senior Marketing Manager (SMM), Search is responsible for maximizing the sales and profitability of Walmart.com's search marketing efforts, including SEM, SEO, and comparison shopping engines. The SMM will be responsible for managing the marketing investment to drive the highest possible returns while meeting monthly and annual traffic and sales goals. He/she will also manage and develop and team of direct reports.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Develop & Execute Search Vision, Strategy and Goals (40%)
Define search strategy, ensuring that SEM and SEO strategies are complementary, maximizing traffic and sales while minimizing cost.
Define roadmap for SEO success and work cross-functionally to ensure support for key SEO initiatives.
Define SEM strategy and oversee execution.
Manage search budget, forecasting monthly goals and ensuring that they are achieved.
Manage reporting & analysis strategy (with support from analyst) and communicate key performance trends to the organization. Perform data analysis as needed to problem solve and to identify trends and opportunities.
Keep up with industry trends and introduce new ideas for improving performance, developing new partnerships as necessary.

2.Internal and External Partnership (30%)
Partner closely with product management & engineering organizations to identify opportunities for technology enhancements to drive SEO results and improve efficiency/scalability of online marketing efforts.
Manage SEM agency to maximize performance.
Partner with category marketing, merchandising, and creative teams to support key product launches, programming, and seasonal initiatives.
Work closely with the marketing team in Bentonville and their online media agency to maximize the synergies of Wal-Mart and Walmart.com marketing efforts.
Manage several external vendors and negotiate new vendor relationships as necessary.

3. Manage Team of Direct Reports (30%)
Manage and inspire a team of two Associate Marketing Managers.
Monitor team members' workload, project prioritization, and execution.
Train and mentor team to maximize productivity and job satisfaction.
Establish traffic and investment goals and monitor team's performance against these goals.
Raise awareness of team's efforts within the organization.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1) Competencies: Skills, knowledge, & abilities
Functional Competencies:
In-depth knowledge of search marketing techniques and technologies, including SEO.
Very strong analytical and quantitative skills.
Ability to determine and drive strategic marketing priorities.
Comfort with technology and capabilities of database driven environments.
Strong organizational and project management skills.

Team player - ability to work with multiple cross-functional groups, including business & technical teams.
Persuasive communication skills, including ability to influence senior management.
Flexible and responsive; able to perform in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.

Experience

7+ years online marketing experience, with demonstrated competency in SEM & SEO.
Management experience required.
E-commerce experience preferred.

Preferred Educational Level:
Bachelor's degree required.
MBA preferred.
