Big data can be defined as "a collection of data sets so large and complex that it becomes difficult to process using on-hand database management tools or traditional data processing applications;" but that doesn't really tell you much. Most of the discussions these days are around how companies are wrangling Big Data, but mostly on the analysis side and usually have nothing to offer when it comes to actual execution. In our upcoming SEMPO LA event, our lineup of celebrated speakers will discuss not only the implications of the effects of Big Data on the search engine marketing industry, but how to make this data actually work for your company.


· Pelin Thorogood – CEO, Anametrix

  • Pelin is a high-tech innovator having worked at companies including WebSideStory (acquired by Omniture/Adobe), Peregrine Systems (acquired by HP), and Limelight Networks. She has been named one of the "20 Women to Watch” and serves as Executive-in-Residence for the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University.
· Rand Schulman – Digital Marketing Pioneer
  • Rand helped create an industry through organizations such as WebTrends, Unica (IBM), Kontagent, and other leading benchmark companies. He is a founder and Director Emeritus of the Digital Analytics Association and a Trustee of the Direct Marketing Education Foundation.

· Adam J. Epstein – President & Chief Operating Officer, adMarketplace

  • Adam joined adMarketplace in November 2003 and became President & COO in June 2006. He is responsible for managing day-to-day business operations. Prior to joining adMarketplace, Adam launched Before becoming an Internet entrepreneur, Adam clerked for a US District Court judge and was an attorney at Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP in New York. Adam graduated from Columbia University and the University of Michigan Law School.

· Jeff Ferguson – CEO and Lead Consultant, Fang Digital

  • With over 17 years of online marketing experience, Jeff has led the online marketing efforts for companies such as Hilton Hotels, Kimberly-Clark, InterActiveCorp, Experian, Napster, and He has also served as a consultant for clients such as American Airlines, CBS Local, Farmers Insurance, Hilton Hotels, and Toyota. Jeff was recently honored as one of PPC Hero’s "Top 25 Most Influential PPC Experts.”
