SEMPO Committee Restructuring & Recruitment

SEMPO’s committees and working groups are fundamental in helping the Board of Directors achieve its goals and complete its initiatives, all of which help SEMPO continue to grow and become a larger industry presence.

In an effort to help keep SEMPO’s committees aligned with the Board’s goals, one of the first tasks of each newly elected Board will be to evaluate each committee, working group, and task force to determine whether-or-not it remains integral to the current and upcoming initiatives. The Board will also form ad-hoc task forces and working groups, as needed, to address specific initiatives/needs.

Some other exciting changes to how SEMPO’s committees will now operate include:
  • Each committee roster will be redone annually, with an open call for participation for each. Existing committee members are invited to continue, new members are encouraged to join, and those who can no longer commit to the time and productivity requirements can gracefully bow out.
  • A Committee Operating Guide was created and will govern how all committees operate. The guide provides consistency, a better understanding of expectations, and will help each committee stay on track and engaged.
  • Meeting and attendance requirements are now if effect for all committees. This will help ensure the effectiveness and participation of the group as a whole.
  • Dave Williams (360i) and Chris Boggs (Avenue A/Razorfish) will oversee committee performance and will host monthly meetings for the committee chairs to track activities and progress.

We are currently looking for volunteers for all committees! If you have ideas and/or resources you have wanted to share with SEMPO, this is your chance. SEMPO and its committees have a real impact on the search marketing industry, and we encourage you to become involved. If you are interested in participating, but are concerned about committing for the long term, please keep in mind that ad-hoc opportunities will be presented throughout the year.

Thank you in advance for volunteering to help SEMPO offer more value for not only its membership, but for the SEM community as a whole.
