SEMPO Opens India Group to Meet Needs of Growing Search Market in Asia

Makes SEMPO better able to provide localized search engine marketing information and services to world's fourth largest Internet population

Wakefield, MA, March 15, 2007 - SEMPO (Search Engine Marketing Professional Organization), today announced the official opening of SEMPO India, which is governed by SEMPO's Asia Working Group.

The SEMPO India group, established in December 2006 with local and global members, focuses on the rapidly growing search market in India. SEMPO India Chair, Vivek Bhargava, said, "The SEMPO India team has big plans for 2007. We hope to increase the awareness of SEMPO in India and to gain local membership. We also plan to initiate research projects that are based on the search scenario in India."

Motoko Hunt, the Chair of SEMPO Asia Working Group, said, "I am very excited to officially announce the creation of the SEMPO India group. The search market in Asia is growing with incredible speed, with India being one of the most rapidly growing markets in the world. They currently hold the fourth largest Internet population following the US, China, and Japan. SEMPO India's focus on that market will enable us to better provide the information and services related to India to all SEMPO members."

Some of SEMPO India's 2007 initiatives include: a one-day search workshop and providing SEMPO Institute in India with localized research and networking events.
